The British Pyrotechnics Association is the main trade body that represents most professional firework display companies in the United Kingdom. The reason for the association is to maintain high standards amongst its members, whose activities include the manufacture, importation, sale, transportation, training and use of firework displays both by members of the public and professionals.
As a representative body, the British Pyrotechnics Association encourages the highest standards with safety, onsite practice, and performance of firework displays by its members and the public.
The BPA is responsible for maintaining close liaisons with the appropriate authorities on all matters concerning the manufacture, storage, transportation, and exhibition of display fireworks. They also consider, make recommendations, or takes the necessary action on all related aspects of UK and European Legislation governing professional fireworks and related products.
Members of the association sit on several health and safety executive and local government enforcement committees. The BPA also operates the BPA Firers course and exam, these courses are aimed to ensure the highest standard of health and safety and knowledge of fireworks are adhered to. The training program has been accredited by City & Guilds. This is the only UK accredited qualification in the field.
